Care and services to Older Persons
Active ageing, wellbeing and advocacy through applied theatre.
1. FOCUS AREA
This programme promotes active ageing, dignity and social inclusion for older persons through applied theatre and creative participation.
Our focus is on enhancing wellbeing, building confidence, encouraging self-expression and strengthening community connections.
Activities include storytelling, drama, music, creative writing and intergenerational engagement.
2. THE NEED
Many older persons experience challenges that affect their physical, emotional and social wellbeing, including:
Social isolation and loneliness
Poverty and financial strain
Mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety
Cognitive decline and loss of confidence
Physical inactivity and declining mobility
Limited access to recreational and creative opportunities
Lack of dignity, purpose and recognition
3. TARGET GROUPS
Older persons aged 60+ in the community who:
Are socially isolated or living alone
Are experiencing financial or family challenges
Have limited access to supportive services
Show early signs of cognitive decline
Are caregivers for grandchildren
Want to remain active and socially engaged
We welcome all older persons who wish to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
4. OUR TEAM
Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in social work, applied theatre, counselling, music, life skills and community care. The team includes:
Programme Manager – Leadership, planning and oversight
Social Workers – Assessments, support and referrals
Applied Theatre Facilitators – Theatre methodology, facilitation and creative development
Music & Arts Facilitators – Music, movement and creative arts
Counselors / Psychosocial Support Workers – Emotional support and wellbeing
Community Engagement Officer – Partnerships and community mobilisation
Administration Officer – Coordination, records and reporting
